The search for an overdue snowmobiler in Nelson House, Manitoba has ended in tragedy.
RCMP located the body of David MacDonald, 51, on Sunday.
The Nelson House teacher had gone out on his snowmobile Thursday and fell through the ice of an area lake. RCMP and community members began a search of land areas only due to fragile ice conditions on the water.
The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team was expected to be in the community on Monday to assist in search efforts.
Police say MacDonald’s snowmobile provided tracks leading to an open area of the lake to where he drowned.
