IKEA is recalling the LURVIG water dispenser for pets after discovering dogs and cats could get their heads stuck inside the dome and suffocate.
IKEA says there have been two incidents where dogs became stuck and suffocated.
The water dispenser was sold in Canada from October 2017 to July 2018. There were no reported incidents in Canada related to the product, in which 7,767 units were sold.
“We are deeply saddened by these events and know that pets are important and loved family members for many of our customers,” said Petra Axdorff, business area manager at IKEA of Sweden AB.
IKEA urges customers to stop using the water dispenser and return it to any IKEA store for a full refund. A receipt is not required to receive a refund in this case. Customers can also call IKEA at 1-800-661-9807 for a full refund.
