Winnipeg police have charged a 13-year-old boy after they found a loaded, sawed-off .22 calibre rifle.
Officers were investigating commercial break-ins early Monday morning in the area of Aikins Street and Mountain Avenue when they saw a youth walking in the area.
Police say the youth walked up a home on Aikins Street, but quickly ran away. He was located shortly after trying to hide near Machray School.
A search by the K9 unit tracking back to the home located the rifle.
The teen has been charged with seven firearms-related offences, as well as eight breaches of failing to comply with conditions of sentences.
He remains in custody.
