Family’s Cat Perishes in Charleswood Fire

WINNIPEG — People living in a Charleswood home evacuated safely Sunday afternoon after a fire broke out in their single-family residence.

Emergency crews responded at around 3:30 p.m. to the 100 block of Woodchester Bay to find a fire in the basement of the home. Firefighters launched an offensive attack and had flames extinguished by 4 p.m.

Firefighters located the family’s cat deceased.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available at this time. No injuries were reported.
