Two people were arrested after the driver of a stolen SUV deliberately rammed several Winnipeg police cruisers early Thursday.
Officers were patrolling in the area of Main Street and Royal Avenue at around 2 a.m. when they spotted a vehicle that was stolen while running from the 600 block of Centennial Street on January 20.
Police followed the vehicle to Salter Street and Jefferson Avenue, where additional officers tried to safely stop it. The driver immediately tried to flee and rammed several police vehicles trying to escape.
Officers tried to remove two people from the car as it continued to ram vehicles and the driver resisted. Both people were eventually removed and taken into custody.
No damage estimates are yet available.
