Winnipeggers will be noticing more cyclists on the roadways beginning today as Bike to Work Week kicks off.
More than 60 events are planned to celebrate cycling from June 17-23, including group rides, travelling dinners, workshops and races.
“Each year, our board of directors works together with event producers Fete Jockey and our steering committee to curate a dynamic program that engages community bike champions to present bike events that are accessible to all citizens in our city,” said Dave Elmore, Bike Week Winnipeg board chair.
“This year is no exception, we believe that Winnipeggers who join us for Bike Week can celebrate, rediscover or ignite their passion for riding bikes!”
Highlights of this year’s 13th annual program include CMHA’s Ride Don’t Hide bike tour for mental health, Winnipeg Trails’ Bike-In Movie ‘Theatre’ and the Annual Downtown Winnipeg Biz Traveling Supper.
There are 64 pit stops throughout the city for cyclists, running daily from 6:30-9 a.m. offering prizes, swag, food and beverage, entertainment and bike repair. Bike Week will be giving away vouchers for Half Pints’ Bikey McBikeface radler as well as Oh Doughnuts and Tall Grass cinnamon buns at The Forks between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the Manitoba Harvest All Day Pit Stop.
