WINNIPEG — Red River College has appointed Darin Brecht as interim president and CEO.

Brecht is currently the college’s vice-president of finance and administration. He assumed his new role on Thursday.

The move comes as the college chose not to renew the contract of outgoing CEO Paul Vogt, who had led the institution since 2015. Vogt’s contract was to end in 2020.

“With his wealth of experience in the private sector, Darin has a strong foundation in place to provide solid overall leadership and direction for the team at Red River College as we move through this important period of transition, building on what is in place and meeting the needs of the College as they emerge,” said Loren Cisyk, chair of the RRC Board of Governors.

Cisyk went on to recognize Vogt for the “time, energy and dedication he brought to the job.

“We wish him the very best with his future endeavors.”

The board will begin an executive search for a permanent president and CEO.
