Three People Charged in Two Winnipeg Homicides

Winnipeg Police Logo CrestWinnipeg police have made three arrests in two separate homicides in the city.

Officers were called to the 800 block of Pritchard Avenue on August 22 after reports of a man who had been shot.

The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition and pronounced deceased. He has been identified as Kyle Allan Malanchuk, 26, of Winnipeg.

A Canada-wide arrest warrant was later issued for Bradley Shawn Thomas, 24, of Winnipeg. He was arrested on August 30 and charged with second-degree murder, along with weapons offences.

Police say both the victim and suspect had been socializing with partygoers at a home in the area when the shooting took place. Malanchuk was shot in the upper body.

In a separate incident, a 64-year-old Winnipeg man was found unresponsive inside a suite in the 400 block of Elgin Avenue on August 24.

He was later identified as John Graham Buesnel.

Police say the victim had been socializing with two sisters before he was killed.

Taylor Lapierre, 24, was taken into custody on August 29 in the 300 block of Aikins Street.

Shyla Lee Walker, 31, was arrested on August 31 when she turned herself into police.

Both women, who knew Buesnel as an acquaintance, have been charged with manslaughter.
