The Manitoba government is committing $5 million towards the construction of a new community complex in the RM Taché.
Premier Wab Kinew and Municipal and Northern Relations Minister Ian Bushie made the announcement surrounding the Lorette facility on Friday.
“Arenas and community centres are places where people come together in small towns — where kids learn to skate and play hockey and families spend time together on the weekends,” said Kinew. “We made a commitment to families in and around Lorette during the campaign that we would get this arena built, and we’re delivering on that promise.”
The new Taché Community Centre will offer residents a welcoming space for recreation and sociocultural activities. The facility will feature a 62,000-square-foot arena with spectator seating, an 8,000-square-foot library, a multi-purpose space for seniors, a two-lane walking track, and rooms for meetings, conferences, and media.
The project is in its final design stage, with construction set to begin in November and completion expected by summer 2026.
