A 47-year-old Winnipeg woman is facing charges after allegedly stealing nearly $95,000 from her employer over the course of a year.

Winnipeg police launched an investigation in April 2024 following a report of fraud at a business in the 900 block of Powell Avenue.

Investigators say the woman, an employee at the business, used her position to create forged invoices and receipts between May 2023 and April 2024. The fraudulent funds were then deposited into her personal bank account.

The suspect turned herself in at police headquarters on Wednesday and was arrested without incident.

She is charged with fraud over $5,000 and use of a forged document. She has since been released to appear in court.
