A 33-year-old man wanted in connection with a violent random assault at The Forks last month has been arrested by Winnipeg police.
Daniel Christopher Dumas was taken into custody on Sunday after officers tracked him to an apartment on Jefferson Avenue. Police say he tried to evade arrest by jumping from a third-floor window and fleeing on foot. He was captured after a brief chase and subdued with a Taser.
Dumas was also wanted for a robbery and break-in that occurred the following day, June 7, and was the subject of a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large.
He is charged with two counts of robbery, break and enter, theft under $5,000, resisting arrest, and being unlawfully at large. He remains in custody.
The June 6 incident involved a 30-year-old man who was randomly assaulted and knocked unconscious at The Forks. The suspect also threw a stolen item at a woman walking her dog nearby.
