RCMP are investigating after partial skeletal remains were found in the Valley River near Dauphin on Monday evening.

Police were called to the scene around 7:50 p.m. after a swimmer reported discovering what appeared to be human remains in shallow water.

RCMP forensic identification services, search and rescue, and an anthropologist will assist in determining the origin and age of the remains, including whether they are historical.

The investigation is ongoing.
