A cross-Canada flag relay marking the 25th anniversary of the Motorcycle Ride for Dad will make a stop in Winnipeg on Wednesday.
Six riders from Ontario will hand off the ceremonial flag to the Manitoba chapter at 11 a.m. outside TransCanada Brewery on Kenaston Boulevard. Manitoba co-chairs Moe Sabourin and Kirk Van Alstyne, along with executive member Kevin Bailey, will then carry the flag to Regina as it continues its westward journey to Alberta and B.C.
The Ride for Dad has raised more than $43 million since its launch in 2000, with all proceeds supporting the Prostate Cancer Fight Foundation. The Manitoba chapter has raised more than $5.7 million, making it the most successful of the 25 chapters across the country.
Organizers are encouraging one-time donations of $25 to mark the anniversary. More details can be found at ridefordad.ca/chapter/flag-relay.
