Winnipeg police have charged a 40-year-old woman after an unusual assault in the city’s downtown Friday afternoon.

Around 4:30 p.m., police say the woman confronted a 50-year-old stranger on the sidewalk in the 200 block of Hargrave Street. Without warning, she allegedly ignited the victim’s wig with a portable butane torch.

Police located the suspect nearby about 45 minutes later and arrested her without incident.
