Winnipeg police say four teenagers are facing charges after a violent armed robbery at a Walmart in the Unicity area on Tuesday.
Officers were monitoring the retail hub in the 3600 block of Portage Avenue at around 5:15 p.m. when they were alerted to a robbery in progress. Inside the store, police arrested two suspects — one still armed with a gun — while two others were taken into custody nearby. No one was injured.
Investigators say the teens stole backpacks from the shelves and filled them with merchandise before heading toward the exit. When store security intervened, one suspect allegedly pulled out a handgun, pointed it at security, and fired, narrowly missing. The weapon was later identified as a C02-propelled airgun.
A 13-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl, a 15-year-old girl, and a 17-year-old boy have been charged with multiple offences, including armed robbery and weapons-related charges. All four remain in youth custody as police continue to investigate.
