Portage la Prairie RCMP arrested two 17-year-old male students Friday morning after threats were made online about bringing firearms to school.

Police were called to a local school around 8:10 a.m. and arrested one student in the parking lot without incident. Investigators say the teen had posted threatening comments in a group chat the night before, referencing harming teachers. No weapons were found on him or in his vehicle.

A second student connected to the threats was also arrested at the school shortly after.

RCMP say the investigation is ongoing.
