Selkirk RCMP have arrested three people following an attempted break and enter at a home on Mercy Street last Friday evening.
Officers were called around 7:20 p.m. after two men and a woman tried to enter a residence through a window. When police arrived, the suspects were found hiding in a vehicle nearby. One man fled on foot but was quickly arrested after discarding a firearm. The other two suspects were taken into custody without incident.
The trio never gained entry to the home, which was occupied at the time.
A 30-year-old Selkirk woman was released for court, while Brenden Benne, 26, of St. Andrews, and Devon Obirek, 29, of Selkirk, remain in custody.
Both men face charges of break and enter with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and tampering with a firearm’s serial number.
RCMP continue to investigate.
