Winnipeg police have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with a violent assault earlier this month at a gas station on Lagimodiere Boulevard.
Investigators say the incident happened at around 2:30 a.m. on November 2, when a man and woman arrived at the station in a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. After arguing outside the vehicle, the woman got back in, reversed, and hit the passenger side of a refuelling Honda Civic.
The Civic’s owner, a 61-year-old man, went inside the store to call police. The suspect followed him in and assaulted him, knocking him unconscious. The victim was taken to hospital in stable condition but will require multiple surgeries.
Police identified the suspect and arrested him on November 23. He is charged with aggravated assault and mischief under $5,000, and has been released pending a court appearance.
