Winnipeg police have made multiple arrests following a stabbing outside a St. Vital community centre in October, an incident first reported after a man in his 30s was rushed to hospital in unstable condition.
The altercation occurred around 1 a.m. on October 11 at a costume social on Overton Street, where a fight broke out between several men and spilled into the parking lot. A woman in her 40s who tried to intervene was punched and knocked unconscious, and the male victim was stabbed by two men unknown to him. The suspects fled before officers arrived.
After reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses, police executed a search warrant on November 1 at a home in the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue. Five people were taken into custody, and officers seized a loaded sawed-off shotgun.
Two men, aged 24 and 54, a 20-year-old woman and a 16-year-old youth were all charged with firearms-related offences and released on undertakings. A 29-year-old man, Daryan Bryce Rudolph, faces several charges, including assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and multiple firearm-related counts. He remains in custody.
Police say a sixth suspect, a 28-year-old man, was arrested on November 29 and charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon. He has been released on an undertaking.
