Winnipeg police have arrested a 36-year-old man accused of carrying out a series of shoplifting incidents targeting home improvement stores across the city.

Schuyler Stirling Bowman was taken into custody on March 12 in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue as part of a retail enforcement project. Investigators allege he was responsible for more than 20 thefts between January and March, primarily involving brand-name tools and power tools from multiple locations, including Regent Avenue, Empress Street, Leila Avenue, Kenaston Boulevard and Abinojii Mikanah.

Police say the incidents, each involving hundreds of dollars in merchandise, were captured on store surveillance cameras, helping link Bowman to the thefts.

Further investigation revealed Bowman allegedly used stolen identification to pawn more than 400 items at a Main Street pawn shop between July 2025 and March 2026. The total value of the pawned goods is estimated between $105,000 and $140,000, with investigators believing he received about $34,600 in exchange.

Officers were able to recover approximately $12,000 worth of stolen property from the pawn shop.

Bowman faces multiple charges and remains in custody.
