A 29-year-old man is facing a weapons charge after allegedly pulling a handgun on another driver during a road rage incident in Winnipeg.
Officers responded to the area of St. James Street and Ness Avenue just before 6 a.m. on Monday for a report of a gun.
Police say a road rage incident had taken place between two men after the suspect pulled his vehicle alongside the one driven by a 53-year-old victim and began a verbal argument over his driving. The confrontation escalated when the suspect brandished a black handgun.
The victim fled in his vehicle, but the suspect followed a short distance and forced him to stop by pulling in front of him, police said. The suspect got out of his vehicle while still brandishing the handgun before getting back in and fleeing the area when he saw the victim contacting police.
The victim wasn’t injured.
Police tracked down the suspect to a home on Beachham Crescent in Bridgwater Forest and arrested him at around 7:30 p.m.
He is facing a charge of assault with a weapon and was released on an undertaking.
