The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority has expanded hours and online booking options for walk-in connected care clinics, aiming to improve timely access to health care for minor ailments and injuries.
Four WICCC locations are now open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and weekends and holidays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Centre de Santé operates daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Walk-in visits are accepted, and same-day appointments can be booked at medinav.ca.
“Offering online appointments at the WICCCs is just another tool in the toolbox to help meet the needs of Winnipeggers needing care for minor ailments and injuries,” said Dr. Shawn Thomas, associate chief medical officer for the WRHA, in a release.
“Providing more options for flexible and convenient primary care is a priority, as we work to improve access to primary care in our communities.”
Staffed by nurses and nurse practitioners, the clinics treat non-emergency issues such as cuts, rashes, sore throats, stomach pain, bladder infections, and minor injuries.
