Spring officially arrives today, so it would only be fitting to unveil crafted flower masterpieces to acknowledge it.

Plant It Forward is a fundraiser supporting Habitat for Humanity, where 1,000 handmade flowers were created and a goal of $30,000 was set. As of Thursday, about $20,000 had already been raised. “With all the natural disasters this year has seen, we’re pretty excited to have raised as much as we did for our local cause,” organizers said.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, spring’s first flowers will be unveiled at the Historic Port.

Volunteers will also hand over a cheque to Habitat for Humanity CEO Sandy Hopkins at 11:30 a.m.
