Facebook has made it easier for soon-to-be parents to announce their future bundles of joy to the world.
The social networking site has quietly rolled out a new family member status option under its “Friends and Family” section. Parents can now use the “Expected: Child” option when editing their profiles to include the addition of an unborn child.
Inputting a name is optional, but the parents can also add a photo and expected birth date. The add-on is meant to discourage parents from creating new profiles for their children, which breaches the site’s terms.
Once an unborn child is added to a profile, the user’s friends can see the update in their feed the same way new photos and status updates are seen.
