The body of a 53-year-old Winnipeg man has been recovered from Lake Winnipeg one day after he was feared drowned.

RCMP say the man was canoeing with his stepson at about 1 p.m. on Friday when their boat capsized. The teenaged boy swam to shore, but the man could not be found.

Divers from both Manitoba and Saskatchewan recovered the man’s body on Saturday afternoon near Albert Beach.

The man was not wearing a lifejacket, RCMP said.

His name is not being released.
