Operation Red Nose capped off another successful season by providing designated rides home to holiday revellers.
Safety Services Manitoba said on Thursday the service gave 3,709 rides and raised $72,646.67 in donations province-wide.
“We can’t thank our host communities and volunteers enough for helping us make this program such a success,” said Judy Murphy, president and CEO of Safety Services Manitoba. “Their dedication spread the holiday cheer and made Manitoba streets and communities safer.”
A total of 2,137 volunteers gave their time this year, and also helped to raise $10,350 more than in 2011.
“This year we welcomed Shilo to the Operation Red Nose family. They gave 116 rides over the season and raised almost $850,” Murphy added.
Winnipeg gave 1,293 rides with 803 volunteers and raised $33,457.45.
