A tender has been awarded to begin work on rebuilding the famed swinging bridge in Souris, Manitoba.

The local landmark was destroyed during the 2011 flood and eventually cut down.

The new 184-metre bridge will be rebuilt at a higher elevation and to modern safety standards. Construction is set to begin almost immediately and town officials are hopeful the bridge will be completed by this summer’s tourist season.
