Poor driving conditions around southern Manitoba kept RCMP and emergency crews busy late Tuesday afternoon.
Police advised of high winds, slippery roads, and drifting snow on the Perimeter Highway, Highway 101, Highway 59 south, Highway 75 and Highway 1 west shortly before 6 p.m.
Icy conditions are also being blamed on a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of the Perimeter and Highway 3 at around 5 p.m. A vehicle slid into the ditch, causing a chain reaction resulting in three other vehicles becoming involved.
A 47-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Earlier in the day, a woman was airlifted to hospital after a semi-trailer truck and SUV collided head-on one kilometre north of St. Malo on Highway 59.
Another multi-vehicle crash was reported at the Perimeter Highway and Wilkes Avenue.
RCMP advised at the time that motorists drive with extra caution and reduce their speed.
