Splash ParkJust in time for summer, a new splash pad is now open at the St. James-Assiniboia Centennial Pool complex.

The splash pad at 664 Parkdale Street includes 14 above-ground spray features, five ground spray features, picnic tables, benches, pathways and landscaping.

The city and province shared the cost of the $500,000 project, while the city provided an additional $250,000 to expand the adjoining parking lot and $1.1 million to provide the pool with numerous upgrades, such as replacing the 40-year-old boiler system, installing a ultra-violet disinfection system, replacing lockers and replacing the flooring in the multi-purpose sport room.

“I know that young people will make great use of this splash pad this summer and for many summers to come,” said Mayor Sam Katz said. “This project has been tailored to meet the needs of the families in the Crestview-Westwood area and will be a wonderful addition to the St James-Assiniboia Centennial Pool complex.”
