RCMP Crest LogoTwo snowmobilers were rescued on Monday after becoming stuck on George Lake, northwest of Lac du Bonnet.

Manitoba RCMP responded just before 9:30 a.m., where they say a 38-year-old man and 39-year-old woman were stranded in several feet of slush and unable to free themselves.

A helicopter was chartered and the pair was rescued with help from Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship.

The two people were checked by EMS and found to be in good health.

RCMP are reminding riders to check weather conditions before heading out and to avoid crossing bodies of water. If crossing water is necessary, police say to wear a lifejacket over your outer clothing.
