Count Me InThe largest youth-run charity in Canada is expanding to Winnipeg today as the first annual Count Me In Conference gets underway.

About 2,000 Manitoba students in grades 7-12 will be motivated by a panel of speakers at the Centennial Concert Hall for the one-day event. The conference is meant to empower and inspire community involvement, and help connect youth with local volunteer opportunities matching their interests.

The conference is being hosted by “Life With Derek” star Ashley Leggat.

Also scheduled to speak is Olympian Susan Auch, singer-songwriter Suzie McNail, youth activist Michael Champagne, and others, while The Treble and Sagkeeng’s Finest are on deck to perform.

Following the conference, students are led to the lobby for the “Count Me In Afterparty,” which helps them find volunteer openings at organizations in their community.
