As the weather warms up, 7-Eleven wants its customers to shed their winter layers.
The convenience store chain has teamed up with the Salvation Army Thrift Store to encourage the community to give back.
On Wednesday, May 14, participating 7-Eleven stores across the country will accept gently used winter clothing in exchange for a free Slurpee. Items such as coats, boots, fleece, hats and gloves will be accepted.
“7-Eleven takes pride in contributing to every community we operate in,” said Raj Kapoor, vice-president and GM of 7-Eleven Canada, Inc. “We’re looking for ways in which we can make it convenient for our guests to give back and make a real difference in their communities.”
The collection drive will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the 7-Eleven at 1662 St Mary’s Road in Winnipeg
As an added twist to the charity drive, guests are being challenged to take fun selfies wearing all the layers they’re able to donate. The Instagram contest will seek to find the most original and creative outfit and one lucky winner will receive a year’s worth of Slurpee drinks.
