Two Manitoba organizations will be able to pull off Canada Day festivities this year thanks to new funding.

Kildonan-St.Paul MP Joy Smith announced on Friday $1,710 to the West St. Paul Canada Day Committee for its July 1 celebrations, and $10,000 for the Multiculturalism Day Steering Committee for its Canadian Multiculturalism Day event, taking place on June 28 in Winnipeg.

“The financial support we receive through the Celebrate Canada program has been incredible over the past several years and continues to be vital for the future of our annual Canada Day event in West St. Paul,” said Ryan Yackel, fire chief and Canada Day event co-coordinator.

Smith made the announcement on behalf of Heritage Minister Shelly Glover.
