Teen Charged After Fleeing Traffic Stop, Carrying Loaded Rifle

Winnipeg Police CrestA 17-year-old boy is facing numerous charges after fleeing from the passenger side of a vehicle pulled over on Tuesday.

Police were conducting a traffic stop at around 2:30 p.m. in the area of Main Street and St. John’s Avenue. The passenger fled, but was eventually stopped by police.

Officers recovered a loaded .22 calibre sawed-off rifle. The driver of the vehicle was able to flee the area.

The youth faces 10 counts of firearms offences and two counts of beaches of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He remains in custody.
