WINNIPEG — A 17-year-old boy was sent to hospital after he was viciously attacked and robbed while waiting for a bus outside of Portage Place Shopping Centre on Tuesday.

The attack happened at around 10:30 a.m. — about the same time the City of Winnipeg was making an announcement inside the mall to fund additional foot patrols in the area to reduce crime.

Police say the victim suffered serious injuries to his face and head and was taken to hospital in stable condition. He was treated and released.

Police obtained video footage of the suspect and ask anyone who can identify him to call (204) 986-6222 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
