WINNIPEG — Dozens of Manitoba businesses have fallen short when it comes to how clean they run their establishments.
The latest health protection report published by the province shows failing grades for food service establishments, swimming pools and water recreational facilities, as well as a body modification parlour.
Several places of business were ordered to temporarily close to address the health code violations this year.
Tavern United and Aaltos on Pembina Highway was closed for less than a day last month due to handling/selling food under unsanitary conditions and operating with no hot or cold running water.
Food service at the Dakota Community Centre Fieldhouse was halted for four days in January due to operating without a food-handling permit.
Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory at Outlet Collection Winnipeg was closed for a day on January 2 due to failing to register before commencing operation and then conducting business without a food-handling permit.
Two Best Western hotels in Winnipeg — Pembina Highway and Portage Avenue — had their swimming pools briefly closed for operating with inadequate water quality.
Thermea had one of its four pools closed last September for two days for operating with inadequate water quality.
