Winnipeg Man Charged After Crashing RV into Hydro Pole

Winnipeg Police CrestA Winnipeg man has been charged with impaired driving after crashing a motorhome into a hydro pole early Friday.

Police were called to the area of Talbot Avenue and Gateway Road at around 12:40 a.m., where the driver and several other occupants fled the accident on foot.

Police say the impact of the RV caused a power outage in the area.

A K9 unit tracked the driver hiding in a parked car at the rear of a home in the 500 block of Castle Avenue. Two women and a two-year-old child were also located and are believed to have been the other people in the vehicle.

James Bradley Porth, 48, also faces charges of failing to provide a breath sample and failing to comply with a recognizance condition.

He remains in custody.
