WINNIPEG — A male youth has been charged with second-degree murder after allegedly assaulting a 73-year-old man.
Winnipeg police were called to a home in the 400 block of Redwood Avenue early Sunday morning for an assault occurring in the front of the home.
The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition after being violently assaulted and sustaining serious upper-body injuries.
A male youth was arrested at the scene and originally charged with aggravated assault and two counts of failing to comply with a sentence.
The victim succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Monday and charges against the youth were upgraded.
The suspect remains in police custody, where he also faces unrelated robbery and firearm charges from an incident on August 23.
