Winnipeg Police Seek Help in Piecing Together Christmas Day Homicide

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police have identified a man who was fatally stabbed on Christmas morning.

Police responded to the 400 block of Victor Street at around 7:15 a.m. and found an injured man. He was taken to hospital in critical condition and later died.

He has been identified as Tyler Evan Smoke, 26, of Winnipeg.

Police haven’t made an arrest in Smoke’s death, but are trying to determine his whereabouts prior to the stabbing on Christmas Day. Anyone who had recent contact with Smoke, or can provide information regarding his recent activities, is asked to contact police at (204) 986-6508.

Investigators are also asking anyone with video surveillance footage from the area of the 400 block of Victor Street to also contact police.
