Springfield Man Killed When Pickup Rear-Ends Garbage Truck

RCMP Crest Logo VehicleA 19-year-old man from the RM of Springfield was killed Tuesday afternoon when the pickup truck he was driving rear-ended a stopped garbage truck.

The two-vehicle crash happened on Highway 12 at around 12:40 p.m. about 1.5 kilometres north of Anola (Highway 15).

RCMP say the pickup was travelling north on Highway 12 when it collided with the rear of the garbage truck, which was stopped to collect garbage at the time.

The lone occupant and driver of the pickup was pronounced deceased on scene.

The 70-year-old Winnipeg man driving the garbage truck, along with his 24-year-old male passenger, weren’t injured.

RCMP are continuing to investigate.
