The first full day of the 46th annual Winnipeg Folk Festival kicked off on Thursday.

More than 70,000 festival-goers are expected to make their way to Birds Hill Park this weekend to see over 70 bands perform.

Campers began arriving on Wednesday, lining up bright and early to secure their place in both the Festival and Quiet campgrounds — both of which are sold out.

Headliners this year include Kacey Musgraves, Alvvays, The Sheepdogs, Jason Mraz, K’naan, Half Moon Run and Death Cab for Cutie.

Single-day tickets can still be purchased online or at the gate.
