Winnipeg police say a stabbing near The Forks on Thursday evening wasn’t a random attack.
Police responded at around 6:40 p.m. to the area of Forks Market Road and Fort Gibraltar Trail, where a man in his 20s had been stabbed.
Emergency first-aid was provided to the victim before he was transported to hospital in unstable condition. He was later upgraded to stable.
The suspect was located on nearby Israel Asper Way a short time later and arrested.
Mason Desjarlais, 23, of Winnipeg, has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon. He remains in custody.
It’s believed both the suspect and victim knew each other.
