Winnipeg police are investigating a carjacking incident that occurred on Sunday evening in the 500 block of William Avenue.
Police say a 34-year-old woman was leaving church when she was approached by three suspects — two males and one female — one of whom was armed. The suspects demanded her car keys, forcibly removed her from the vehicle, and stole personal belongings before fleeing the scene in her vehicle. The victim didn’t require medical treatment as a result of the incident.
Descriptions of the suspects are:
Female: Indigenous, approximately 5’5”, skinny build, wearing a red hoodie layered with a grey jacket and grey pants, with a small tattoo near her right eye.
Male 1: Indigenous, about 5’5”, skinny build, wearing a baseball cap and grey hoodie.
Male 2: Indigenous, around 5’6”, wearing a grey jacket or hoodie.
No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
This is the second carjacking in a week, following a violent incident the day before where a woman was run over by her own vehicle.
