Winnipeg will welcome top young fencers from across the country this week as the city hosts Canada Cup #3 – Youth and Junior Nationals from February 14 to 16.
The tournament is being held at the Sport for Life Centre and is organized by the Canadian Fencing Federation in partnership with the Manitoba Fencing Association.
The three-day event will feature athletes in categories from U13 to Junior, marking the first time Manitoba has hosted a national youth and junior championship.
“This is an amazing opportunity for the MFA to showcase both our venue and the talent of Manitoba’s fencers,” said Sean Rathwell, executive director of the MFA.
The competition will also serve as the final qualifier for Team Canada selections for the Pan American Championships in March and the Junior World Championships in China in April.
The public can watch the event for free daily between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
