Two youths were injured on Monday after a utility task vehicle collided with a semi-truck in the RM of Treherne.

Manitoba RCMP say the crash happened around 11:15 a.m. on Highway 244 when the UTV, driven by a teenage boy with a male youth passenger, suddenly turned in front of a passing semi-truck near Road 41 North. The semi struck the UTV, sending it into a ditch.

Neither youth was wearing a seatbelt or helmet. The driver was airlifted to hospital in critical condition by STARS air ambulance, while the passenger was taken to hospital in serious condition. Both have since been upgraded to stable.

The semi driver was not injured. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. RCMP continue to investigate.
