The Manitoba government is spending more than $2 million to improve Spruce Woods Provincial Park.

The upgrades include a new floating boardwalk and viewing platform on Isputinaw Trail, replacement of a damaged bridge on Spring Ridge Trail, and 70 new electrical pedestals at the Kiche Manitou campground. Other improvements include relocating a maintenance yard from a flood-prone area and purchasing new park equipment.

“Our mandate is to promote and enhance the public’s enjoyment of Spruce Woods Provincial Park,” said Ann Stout, president, Friends of Spruce Woods Provincial Park.

“These upgrades reflect our shared values of environmental stewardship and community engagement, and we look forward to the lasting positive impact they will have on Spruce Woods and the Westman region.”

During Friday’s announcement, the province also touted the current free entry policy to all provincial parks this year.
