Winnipeg police have arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with multiple break-ins and thefts in the city’s south end earlier this year.

Investigators say on March 24, 2025, several apartment buildings in Windsor Park and South St. Vital were targeted, with suspects forcing entry, breaking into mailboxes and storage lockers, and stealing mail, bicycles, and other property. Damage from the incidents totalled thousands of dollars.

DNA evidence collected at one scene matched the profile of Ryan Nelson Thomas in the National DNA Data Bank. Police say the suspect was first arrested on August 1 on a DNA warrant, and further testing linked him to the crimes.

On August 11,  officers arrested Thomas in the 300 block of Kennedy Street without incident. A pocket knife was seized at the time.

Thomas faces four counts of break and enter, possession of a weapon, and breach of recognizance. He remains in custody.
