A dump truck driver has been arrested for impaired driving following a multi-vehicle collision on the North Perimeter Highway in West St. Paul on Monday morning.
Manitoba RCMP say the crash happened around 7:45 a.m., when the westbound truck slammed into several vehicles stopped at a red light near Pipeline Road, pushing them into another vehicle.
A 46-year-old Winnipeg man had to be extricated and was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Two other drivers were uninjured.
The 65-year-old Winnipeg dump truck driver failed a roadside test and later refused to provide a breath sample. He was arrested and faces multiple driving-related charges. His licence has been suspended and the truck seized for inspection.
RCMP and a collision reconstructionist continue to investigate.
