Valour FC Strips Jordan Murrell of Captaincy After He Sees Red in CPL Game

WINNIPEG — Valour FC has stripped Jordan Murrell of his captaincy in the wake of a stormy red-card exit in the Winnipeg CPL’s club 1-0 loss to HFX Wanderers in Halifax earlier this week.

Murrell was issued a straight red card for making contact with referee Filip Dujic in the 89th minute at Wanderers Grounds. The incident occurred after Murrell went down in a challenge with a Halifax player. When he got up, he pushed the referee and was promptly ejected.

Valour FC captain Jordan Murrell has apologized for a stormy red-card exit in the Winnipeg CPL’s club 1-0 loss to HFX Wanderers in Halifax on Monday.

Murrell, who had words with the officials minutes earlier, was issued a straight red card for making contact with referee Filip Dujic in the 89th minute at Wanderers Grounds.

LANGFORD, B.C. — Dylan Carreiro scored the go-ahead goal in the 78th minute, and Valour FC beat Pacific FC 2-1 on Wednesday to open their inaugural Canadian Premier League season.

Stephen Hoyle opened the scoring for Winnipeg’s Valour FC (1-0-0) in the 23rd minutes before Jose Hernandez responded for Pacific FC of Victoria (1-1-0) in the 45th.
