Details of the 2013 Manitoba Motorcycle Ride for Dad were released Friday, setting the scene for the fifth annual fundraiser in support of prostate cancer research and education.
On May 25, hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts will gather in Winnipeg and head out on the highway in a joint ride.
“Our goals are to spread awareness of the need for early detection of prostate cancer and to increase the number of registered riders, pledge donors and funds raised each year,” said event spokesperson Ed Johner. “All funds stay in Manitoba for prostate cancer research and education.”
Celebrity ride captains this year include Winnipeg Blue Bomber Hall of Famer Doug Brown, MP Shelly Glover, and assistant Winnipeg Jets coach and former Edmonton Oiler Charlie Huddy.
The event raised more than $116,000 last year with the help of 837 registered riders.
